Breast Lumps Diagnosis & Treatment in Dubai

A breast lump is a mass that develops in an individual’s breast. This can be breast tissue that feels different from the breast mass around it or the breast tissue in the same region of the other breast. While a breast lump may indicate the possible presence of breast cancer, it frequently has no connection to the disease.

  Overview

Breast Lumps

A breast lump is any area of the breast tissue with a definite shape noticed by you or your Healthcare Provider. Most breast lumps are benign (non-cancerous) and do not require any treatment. Still, it can be scary to find a lump, so try not to panic, and make sure to contact your Healthcare Provider to arrange further review.

What does a Breast Lump feel like?

A breast lump can feel hard or spongy and can sometimes be difficult to decide if it feels different to the rest of your breast tissue. Sometimes the breast lump is painful or tender to touch, or it might be associated with skin or nipple changes.

What are the causes of a Breast Lump?

Whilst most breast lumps (80%) are not due to breast cancer, it is important to rule this out using clinical examination and breast imaging in the clinic. The majority of breast lumps are caused by hormonal changes related to the menstrual cycle or benign breast disease. Most women will have some bumps or lumpiness in the breast tissue, so it is important to get used to what is normal for you by getting to know our breast tissue.

What to do next?

If you feel a new lump or a change in the breast tissue, contact your Healthcare Provider to arrange an appointment. If you are not sure about the lump, it always best to get it checked. Your Healthcare Provider will check you breast and general health history and perform a clinical breast examination, before arranging any recommended tests for you.
