Biographie
Le Dr Wasen AlKhafaji est un rhumatologue consultant irako-suédois qui compte dix ans d'expérience dans la prestation de soins exceptionnels aux patients et dans l'amélioration de la compréhension et du traitement des maladies rhumatismales.
Dr. Wasen is Swedish Board-Certified and has experience in pediatric rheumatology through her work in Norwegian National Advisory Unit of Rheumatic Diseases in Children and Adolescents.
As a consultant with Trust South-Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority (Betanien Hospital), Dr. Wasen has overseen the care of patients with rheumatic diseases, serving a population od 425,000 in Telemark and Vestfold.
Dr. Wasen played a pivotal role in treating pregnant women with rheumatic diseases in collaboration with the National Competence Service for Pregnancy and Rheumatic Diseases at St. Olavs Hospital-Trondheim.
Dr. Wasen gained experience in diagnosing and treatment of rare rheumatic diseases as systemic sclerosis, IgG4 related diseases, Behçet’s disease. Lofgren syndrome and systemic sarcoidosis, Vasculitis, systemic lupus erythematosus. Sjogren’s syndrome, Inflammatory myopathies and lung manifestations in the rheumatic diseases.
Dr. Wasen has the empathy every clinician needs to work with patients dealing with physical and emotional adversities.

He actively participates in clinical research trials and has been published in peer reviewed journals such as the Journal of the State Medical Society and Baylor University Medical Center’s Proceedings. At Hahnemann Hospital in conjunction with Drexel University, where he received extensive training in coronary as well as peripheral interventions and limb salvage procedures.

He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, AL where he was selected as a Chief Internal Medicine Resident. He then went to LSU Medical School in New Orleans where he was an Honors Program Graduate and finished in the top quartile of his graduating class.
