- Family history
- Having an undescended testicle
- History of testicular cancer
Symptoms of Testicular Cancer
In many cases of testicular cancer, there are no symptoms and it’s discovered during routine physical exams or self-examinations. However, symptoms include:
- Lump or swelling in one or both testicles
- Pain or discomfort in the testicle or scrotum
- Feeling of heaviness in the scrotum
- Dull ache in the lower abdomen or groin
- Build-up of fluid in the scrotum, causing it to swell
Diagnosis of Testicular Cancer
Diagnosis is usually made through a physical exam, blood tests, and imaging tests such as ultrasound and CT scans. If testicular cancer is suspected, a biopsy of the affected testicle may also be performed to confirm the diagnosis and determine the type and stage of the cancer.

Treatment for Testicular Cancer
Treatment depends on the stage and type of cancer, as well as the patient’s overall health. The most common treatment is surgery to remove the affected testicle.
Radical Inguinal Orchiectomy
This is a surgical procedure to remove the affected testicle.
This is frequently followed by radiation therapy or chemotherapy, depending on the stage of the cancer and whether it has spread to other parts of the body. In some cases, if the cancer is caught early and has not spread, surgery may be the only necessary treatment.
Testicular cancer is highly treatable, with a cure rate of over 95% for most cases. However, early detection and prompt treatment are key to a successful outcome.
