At CMC Hospital Dubai our expert team of Endocrinologists are highly experienced in the assessment and treatment options of type 2 diabetes which in some instances may include Ozempic Injections.
What is Ozempic?
Ozempic is medication primarily used as part of treatment plans for type 2 diabetes in adults. It is a medication that contains the active ingredient semaglutide, which belongs to the class of drugs known as glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists.
Ozempic and Weight Loss
In addition to its glucose-lowering effects, Ozempic has been associated with other beneficial outcomes, such as weight loss, which can be particularly helpful for individuals with type 2 diabetes who are overweight or obese.
How does Ozempic help treat Type 2 Diabetes?
As a GLP-1 receptor agonist, Ozempic works by mimicking the action of the naturally occurring hormone GLP-1 in the body. GLP-1 is responsible for stimulating insulin release from the pancreas, reducing glucagon secretion (a hormone that increases blood sugar levels), slowing down stomach emptying, and promoting a feeling of fullness after meals. By enhancing these effects, Ozempic helps to lower blood sugar levels in individuals with type 2 diabetes.
How is Ozempic Administered
Ozempic is administered once a week as a subcutaneous injection, typically given into the fatty tissue of the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm. It comes in a pre-filled pen device, making self-administration relatively simple. The pen delivers a fixed dose.
Your dosage regime will be determined by our Doctor and it’s essential you follow your prescribed dosage.
