Domaines d'expertise

ROBOTIC SURGERY

Dr Abi khalil performs hundreds of robotic gynecologic procedures yearly , reflecting extensive experience in high-complexity surgery. Robotic technology provides enhanced visualization, precision, and dexterity, which are particularly advantageous in the management of deep infiltrating endometriosis and complex fibroid disease.

In endometriosis surgery, the robotic approach enables meticulous excision with nerve preservation and safe management of bowel, ureteric, and diaphragmatic involvement. In fibroid surgery, robotic techniques facilitate precise myomectomy, meticulous uterine reconstruction, reduced blood loss, and optimized fertility preservation, even in large, multiple, or anatomically challenging cases.

ENDOMETRIOSIS SURGERY

Frequently consulted for advanced and complex endometriosis surgery, including robotic and laparoscopic excision of deep infiltrating endometriosis (DIE), bowel, bladder, ureteric, uterosacral, rectovaginal, pelvic sidewall, and diaphragmatic endometriosis. Extensive experience in redo and recurrent endometriosis surgery, focusing on complete excision, nerve preservation, symptom control, and long-term outcomes.

FIBROID SURGERY

Provides advanced minimally invasive management of uterine fibroids, including robotic and laparoscopic myomectomy for large, multiple, and complex fibroids, fertility-preserving surgery, and advanced uterine reconstruction.

ADENOMYOSIS & COMPLEX UTERINE SURGERY

Specializes in complex uterine surgery using advanced minimally invasive techniques. Practice includes uterus-sparing adenomyosis surgery in selected cases, management of focal and diffuse adenomyosis, and surgical treatment of severe dysmenorrhea and heavy menstrual bleeding. Also manages complex and redo uterine surgery, including advanced uterine reconstruction.

Additional areas of complex uterine surgery include laparoscopic and robotic repair of cesarean scar defects (isthmocele repair), surgical correction of congenital uterine anomalies such as uterine septum and Müllerian anomalies, and fertility-preserving reconstruction of abnormal uterine anatomy.

Also performs robotic-assisted abdominal cerclage in selected patients with cervical insufficiency, particularly in cases of failed vaginal cerclage, prior cervical surgery, or complex cervical anatomy, offering a minimally invasive approach to improve obstetric outcomes.

HYSTERECTOMY (MINIMALLY INVASIVE)

When hysterectomy is indicated, advanced minimally invasive hysterectomy is performed using robotic and laparoscopic techniques. The approach prioritizes reduced surgical trauma, preservation of surrounding structures, minimized blood loss, and faster recovery. Indications include severe endometriosis, symptomatic fibroids, adenomyosis, abnormal uterine bleeding, and complex benign gynecologic pathology where uterus-sparing options are not appropriate. Special expertise includes robotic hysterectomy in complex cases such as very large uteri and patients with multiple previous surgeries.

HYSTEROSCOPIC SURGERY

Operative hysteroscopy including hysteroscopic removal of submucosal fibroids and endometrial polyps, management of uterine septum and intrauterine adhesions, evaluation and treatment of abnormal uterine bleeding, and fertility-oriented hysteroscopic procedures.
