Dr. Hala Yamout is a nephrologist with a special interest in hypertension. She completed her undergraduate studies and Doctor of Medicine degree from the American University of Beirut then fulfilled her internal medicine residency at St Louis University and nephrology fellowship at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.
In addition, she achieved an advanced fellowship in hypertension at the University of Chicago. She then worked as an assistant professor and practicing nephrologist at the St. Louis Veterans Affairs with an appointment at St. Louis University prior to joining CMC. During this time she received the Medical Staff Award for Dedication to Patient Care and Teaching in 2017.
Throughout her training, she has maintained a deeply motivated interest in clinical research and has worked and collaborated on a number of academic papers as well as completing the Global Clinical Scholars Research Training post-graduate certificate from Harvard Medical School.
She has been the site- principle investigator for international clinical trials for treatment of diabetic kidney disease and appointed as the site co-principle investigator for a large blood pressure study. In addition, she was involved in studying the optimal hypertensive therapy in kidney transplant patients in June 2018.
