    Biography

    Professor of Medicine at the American University of Beirut Medical Center and previous Chief of the Division of Gastroenterology at AUBMC from 2002-2017. He is also a Consulting Professor at Duke University in Durham, NC, USA where he trained and received American Board Certification in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He is a fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology and of the American Gastroenterological Association, and the Royal College of Physicians (London).

    Dr. Sharara is a member of the AGA, ACG, WEO, ECCO, and the Lebanese Society of Gastroenterology.

    Dr Sharara has over 200 published peer-reviewed articles and 4 book chapters and serves on the editorial boards of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, American Journal of Gastroenterology, Clinical Gastroenterology & Hepatology, and World Journal of Gastroenterology. He is the recipient of the Golden Jubilee Clinical Research Excellence Award from the Lebanese National Council for Research in 2012. He is a member of the Lebanese National Committee on CRC Screening and is the Coordinator of the IBD Interest Group in the Lebanese Society of Gastroenterology.
