Biography

Dr. Sergey Leontyev is a highly experienced Consultant Cardiac Surgeon with more than 25 years of expertise in advanced cardiac surgery. He specializes in minimally invasive cardiac procedures, valve surgery, aortic surgery, coronary artery bypass surgery, and transcatheter heart interventions.

Dr. Leontyev currently serves as Medical Director of Helios Private Clinic Leipzig, Professor of Cardiac Surgery at the University of Leipzig, and Managing Senior Physician at Leipzig Heart Center, Germany. Throughout his distinguished career, he has performed more than 7,500 cardiac operations, including over 500 minimally invasive procedures and more than 1,000 transcatheter interventions.

His expertise includes minimally invasive mitral, tricuspid, and aortic valve surgery performed through small incisions using advanced video-assisted techniques. He also has extensive experience in complex aortic procedures, including aortic root replacement and total aortic arch reconstruction, as well as off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG).

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Leontyev is actively involved in research and medical education and has authored or co-authored 99 scientific publications in the field of cardiac surgery.
