Hematuria Symptoms
Sometimes, the blood in the urine is the only symptom that people notice. In other cases, there can be other symptoms such as burning upon urination, fever, chills, pain in the sides, back, or abdomen. Sometimes there can also be difficulty urinating.
Hematuria Causes
The causes of blood in the urine are many. These can include:
- Kidney stones
- Infection
- Diseases of the kidney itself (including diabetes, autoimmmune diseases, etc)
- Cancer
Treatment of Hematuria
The treatment depends on the cause of the blood in the urine. After working up the cause, usually requiring blood and urine tests as well as imaging, the appropriate treatment is provided.
