Diagnostic Laparoscopy

Diagnostic laparoscopy is used in the identification and diagnosis of the cause of pelvic or abdominal pain. The procedure is mostly used when less intrusive methods such as ultrasound, CT scan and MRI, have failed in aiding the diagnosis. More specifically in gynecology, the common use of diagnostic laparoscopy is to ascertain patency of tubes (part of fertility investigation), diagnose endometriosis and long term effects of pelvic inflammatory disease.
